Rustic and Blue is a farm to table cafe serving up all day brunch, but with a twist. They want to use local ingredients and not import anything – this even includes making their own cheeses. The result is a cute farm style cafe serving international inspired dishes made with local products as possible.
They started with pop up events a while ago whilst waiting for their restaurant to be finished. With a Thai and American behind the cafe, the owners combine the best ideas of both worlds. These one off events were a great way to introduce Rustic and Blue to the world and gained them an early following. Check out their facebook page for details of future events.
The artisan tea selection is hand made by one of the owners, and has a huge range of green, white, black and rooibos tea blends. Treat yourself to a gorgeous little pot of aromatic loveliness with teas that smell as good as they sound! We especially liked Blueberry macaroon, Chocolate caramel dream and White rose paradise.
Their menu is all farm fresh food and has a good range, offering the expected breakfasty things, bakery and salads, along with more substantial lunch options. Smoothies, juices, tea, coffee and alcohol are available, as well as dishes for speciality diets. Food prices range from 175 for berry smoothie and fruit bowl set to 295 for lunch plates like burgers. I opted for the fig tart (185 baht vegan and gluten free) which was a little larger than anticipated! Piled high with fresh figs, lemon cream ant berries, and with a almond pie crust, definitely too much for one person!
Mr went for the green eggs Benedict (225 baht) as below, a poached egg and crisp bacon on a croissant, served with roasted potatoes, tomato slices and lettuce. Instead of hollandaise though, it was served with a fresh avocado – right up his street but didn’t quite fill him up. There was also a chickpea-crust gluten free pizza which I’d like to try – it was just a bit much for me that early in the morning! Ah well, I guess we will have to come back…
